More About the BEL Initiative

BEL stands for Business, Entrepreneurship and Leadership. The BEL Initiative exists to fulfill the vision that Haiti is a developed nation – an economic powerhouse in the world.

It's an initiative of the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce designed to create a hands-on environment for Young Haitian Leaders and Entrepreneurs to learn, practice and master the social, leadership and business skills needed to transform their communities in Haiti. BEL Initiative Fellows are selected based on the maturity of their enterprises and the impact their businesses can have on the development of Haiti. The quality and magnitude of their impact is measured by the UNDP Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) critical to the development of Haiti. These SDGs include but are not limited to:

  • Zero Poverty
  • Zero Hunger
  • Good Health and Well-Being
  • Quality Education
  • Gender Equality
  • Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Affordable and Clean Energy
  • Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Industry/Innovation and Infrastructure
  • Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Peace/Justice and Strong Institutions
